Company History
George Poole Metal Processor Ltd - Company History

Our family have been involved with scrap metal for generations. Without going through official records we can go back as far as 1880. We took the company name from when we first became registered as G Poole and Sons Iron and Steel merchants, 3 generations ago but we know that prior to that the business was ran by James Poole, Georges father.
George had 2 sons, Robert Poole and George Poole. Unfortunately, George Poole (junior) died at a young age leaving the business to be run by Robert Poole (Known to people in the community and our customers as Bob and sometimes George).
He ran the company with his wife Audrey Poole for many years, originally located at North Street in Stoke. The company relocated to Hanley with the building of the A500 in 1972. Later the company became a partnership between Robert, Audrey and their son Steve and was registered as George Poole Metal Processors.
In 2007 we became a limited company following the dissolving of the partnership after the death of Robert Poole in 2004 from Cancer, just short of his 81st birthday. Bob was a well known character in our company's history and is fondly missed by those who knew him. His wife Audrey retired a couple of years later, leaving their son Steve to run the business.
George Poole metal processors ltd is run by Steve Poole and his wife Janet with the help of the 4th generation of Poole's and other family members. We have only one staff member who is not related and he has worked with us for 23 years.
We are all very hands on here and we know and speak to our customers face to face to maintain a friendly and personal approach.
